The NGO Access Life Assistance Foundation (ALAF) - a social organization came to existence in Chembur. Started by experienced young entrepreneurs from travel and media, the NGO aims to make a difference to the lives of children diagnosed with or receiving treatment for Cancer from weaker sections of the society.

The founders of Access Life Assistance Foundation discovered a huge unmet need to provide a safe and clean atmosphere for children to recover during their Cancer treatment. These children, along with their families, travel to Mumbai from remote towns and villages, in the hope of being treated at hospitals such as Tata Memorial, LTMGH (Sion Hospital), Wadia Hospital, Nair Hospital etc. where they receive free of charge treatment.

We envisioned that every needy child who comes to Mumbai to undergo treatment for cancer would have access to a clean, safe, comfortable, caring, and cost-free accommodation. And it would be a home away from home for both the child and his family. In such a nurturing environment, these little ones would have another shot at life.

Our mission is to offer a home-like environment for these families and we also try to improve the quality of life of these children by providing practical support services, educational resources and recreational programs.

Our work
• Presently, the organization is engaged in providing free accommodation, ration and an inspiring living environment to poor children undergoing cancer treatment.
• Access Life has launched a Patient Care Centre that not only provides to free accommodation but also strives to make their stay memorable with fun-filled activities and ambiance. Set up with the help of professionals, experts and enthusiasts from social sector, the patient care centre currently has capacity to house 8 patient families.
• We have started in 2014 with our first centre at Chembur East and intend to develop a prototype for successful framework that can replicated elsewhere by us and others.
• In June 2014, we identified and negotiated for the premises for the Chembur Centre, and assembled a skilled and enthusiastic Project Team which met for the first time in February 2014.
• The first eight families moved into the Chembur Centre in the first fortnight in July 2014.
