Qui sommes-nous

The DBHW was founded in 1961. Unlike self-help groups such as the local blind and partially-sighted societies, the DBHW does not support its own members, but needy blind and partially-sighted people in Germany, Eastern Europe, East and West Africa and also scattered groups in Asia and South America.

The DBHW sees its work as subsidiary; it steps in to help where public services or social systems such as hospitals can or wish to give (further) aid.

The aim of the organisation is to offer direct or indirect help to the blind, those going blind, and to the severely visually-impaired.

The mission of its articles of association is realised by:

• material support for the blind and partially-sighted in distress,
• the implementation of cultural and social measures,
• the acquisition and donation of aids for the blind,
• financial support for research into and development of aids for the blind,
• financial support for facilities serving the integration of the visually-impaired.

The organisation is non profit-making.

Heribert Tigges is the Project Leader of the organisation..

On request, we can offer other net participants a consultation, an expert opinion or make a presentation. We can provide up-to-date information and contacts in the field of our work.
