Qui sommes-nous

HORIZONT e.V. (Horizon) is a non-profit organisation helping homeless children and their mothers in Munich. The association was founded in 1997 by the actress Jutta Speidel.

Horizon’s funding comes solely from public and corporate donations. Horizon helps homeless mothers and their children quickly and unbureaucratically. The high standards of security in our house in Munich offer them the greatest possible protection and safety. They can find peace of mind here. But Horizon offers more than this. Our team of social workers tackles the individual needs of the residents and supports them in solving their problems and building up their courage.

The Horizon House is a cheerful community. We consider varied cultural backgrounds to be a plus and treat each other with respect. Unfortunately, disadvantaged children and mothers have often experienced too little affection, respect and Tender Loving Care. So our social workers take great pains to build up their self-confidence and self-reliance and to support them in opening up new prospects in their lives.

The Horizon House consists of 24 simple but comfortable apartments and two emergency accommodations. The fully-furnished 1, 2 and 3 room flats are on 6 floors. As the way to someone’s heart is through his stomach, each flat has a relatively large kitchen. In the generously appointed bathrooms, mothers and children have enough space for their daily ablutions.

Classrooms, creativity rooms, multifunctional rooms and therapy rooms plus a garden complete the space on offer. Our mothers and children can feel at ease, because our security measures ensure that they are protected from violence or other threats.

The mothers and children can live and find their peace here for up to 18 months. This includes individual scholastic, social and job-related advancement, as well as the development of stable, long-term home prospects.

Our team of social workers attach importance to willingness to work and building up independence. Child care appropriate to their age is also provided for the children.

On request, I/we can offer other net participants advice, an expert opinion or a presentation. We can provide up-to-date information and contacts in the field of our work.
