Sobre nosotros

Since 1982, Frauensolidarität (Solidarity Among Women) has been working for women’s rights in Africa, Asia and Latin America.

Frauensolidarität raises public awareness of development issues and the situation of women in Africa, Asia and Latin America and of the north/south relationship from a feminist point of view. It makes a contribution to the achievement of women’s rights and works towards a world free of sexism and racism. As a development aid organisation, it is in contact with southern women’s organisations, using networking to strengthen united action.

Frauensolidarität
• publishes the quarterly magazine „Frauensolidarität“.
• coordinates the radio series „Women on Air“ on ORANGE 94,0, the independent radio of Vienna.
• runs the „Library and Documentation Centre of Women and the Third World“.
• organises events.
• works for women’s rights and runs an information and mobilisation campaign for the rights of female workers in the informal economy.

Frauensolidarität donates to projects in the south which lie in the hands of the women concerned and which strengthen the position of women. We generally have direct personal contact with the selected projects.

These projects include:
• India: Tsunami-Aid CARE Trust
• Iraq-Kurdistan: women’s refuge
• Peru: Care and education centre for young mothers.
• Chile, Nicaragua, Panama, Morocco, South Africa etc…

Petra Steiner is responsible for Accounts and Project Supervision in the Frauensolidarität organisation.

On request we can offer other net participants advice, and provide up to date information and contacts in the field of our work.
