About us

The Return Self-Help for Addiction Dortmund was founded on 19.12.2009 as a "free self-help association", affiliated to the Diocesan Works as a "guest member".

Our work:
• In addition to alcoholism, the self-help group addresses many other substance addictions, such as illegal drug use and addiction to medical drugs and is there for both those affected and their relatives. The aim of the association is to eliminate prejudices, to promote understanding and to build bridges between those affected and their relatives.
• Active self-help, which creates motivation and which is about working away from the old, well-established chair circles, what a group needs as a group and what an individual needs for himself. Innovative self-help, which creates character and an atmosphere related to real needs and is well networked within the addiction help system.
• Launched in 2009 with two groups, today we operate 18 groups in Dortmund and North Rhine Westphalia and we are looking forward to having more than 6000 participants per year!
• In addition to our group work, we work closely with detoxification and therapy clinics, operate a broad-based clinic service, engage in prevention events in schools or give lectures on workplace prevention.
• Our leader training, a good distribution of competence fields and our own seminar series, also for group participants, form one of the pillars that make up the quality of our work. Return is actively shaping self-help!

What we offer:
• Internet chat with "T-Alk": The association "T-Alk" has been offering a conversation on its internet platform for years, and it is very well frequented by people who are interested in the subject of addiction. The platform has now set up its own "room", which is titled "Treffpunkt Return". It can be reached via http://www.t-alk.net/index.php/chat Here, all those affected and any interested parties can exchange and discuss with each other in writing about addiction.
• Returnopedia: All you want to know about addiction and dependency.
• Action week "Addiction always has a story" During the week, there are numerous individual events that are worth a visit.
• return active: return active is our return leisure program. Whether it is about connecting participants from different groups or about creating an action area that is outside of an addictive environment. We currently provide: Motorcycle Maniacs; Yoga class; Powerobics.

Wolfgang Ullrich is chairman and co-founder of the association Return Self-Help for Addiction Dortmund.

On request we can offer other net participants advice, give a presentation, and provide up-to-date information and contacts in the field of our work.
