About us
Mayan Hope is a non-profit corporation organized under the laws of the State of Texas in the United States of America. We are a charitable organization dedicated to providing educational, nutritional, medical, ecological, and other needed services to indigenous families, villages, and abandoned or abused children of Guatemala and other Latin American nations. We are a direct and hands-on charitable organization meaning that, as such, we work in close cooperation and side-by-side with the people in the communities where projects are located.
Goals of Mayan Hope
Education and the school(s) shall be the main focus of the organization and at minimum shall provide a pre-school, primary school, and adult education free-of-charge to as many individuals and families as possible that would otherwise not have access to an educational facility or could not afford it if they did. Additionally we wish to provide secondary education, trade school education, and locate available university scholarships for as many children and/or adults that wish to further their education as possible.
In addition, the organization will try to provide education, adequate housing, nutritional meals, medical care, clothing, and complete and loving care to as many orphaned, abandoned, and/or abused children as possible.
The organization shall make every effort to promote economic development in the areas where we work by assisting with the development and operation of small, cottage, micro-enterprise, or cooperative ventures to be owned and operated by local individuals, families, or groups. The organization will attempt to develop low or no interest loan programs, training, management services, volunteer workers, or other assistance as needed to promote the development of and successful operation of any such entities
Projects:
• Educational projects: Special Education, Central Education Center, Student Exchange and College Scholarships
• Environmental projects: Paper Firebricks, Solar Ovens, Composting Toilets
• Health projects: Mobile Medical Unit and Training
• Nutrition project: Soy Milk Project; the VitaCow: a multi-purpose food production system that can process a variety of foods including cereals, grains, legumes, fruits and vegetables.
• Economic Development projects: •Development of New Farm Crops, Solar Bakery
Volunteers are an integral part of Mayan Hope.
Donald Langley is the Executive Director of the project office of Mayan Hope in Guatemala and Julia Dworschack is the Treasurer of Mayan in the U.S.A..
For other net participants we can offer an expert guidance through trained staff, give an expert opinion, procure expert information and establish new contacts in the field of our work.
