Über uns

Arise and Shine Uganda (AASU) was founded in 2010 and is a non profit organisation with its interventions in both Jinja and Kamuli district/Uganda. Main goal of AASU is sustainable community development through quality education so children and adults will have higher living standards through quality education.

The target beneficiaries of AASU`s interventions are orphans and other vulnerable children (OVCs), community youth under 18 years and community adults above 18 years.

Our strategic objectives:
• To educate, provide shelter, care and medical treatment for at least 30 orphaned and other vulnerable children by 2014.
• To increase the knowledge and skills of community members in HIV/AIDS prevention and life skills to lead to positive behaviour change by 2014.
• To increase the income of community members aged 18years and above through engagement in income generating activities by 2014.

Projects:
• Children’s Carehome in Jinja: AASU set up a childrens care home, currently caring for 22 children both able bodied and disabled. The home strives to take care of orphaned, abandoned or any other children in vulnerable situations.
• Primary School in Kibuye Village: AASU has set up a school in Kibuye with three (three) classrooms accommodating over 40 children per class. We have hired very highly qualified teachers to teach at the school and since we started there has been a visible positive change in the quality of education in the Kibuye community.
• Community Education in Kibuye Village: We basically teach community members about issues affecting the village and we also run a literacy programme for the adults who missed out on the chance of education. We teach about issues like personal hygiene, HIV/AIDS sensitisation, Nutrition among others.
• Community Outreach: We are introducing igps (income generating projects)in the villages and are increasing the involvement of community members in such projects to lead to self sustainability.
• Children with a disability
• Income generating projects in Jinja: AASU has set up a few income generating projects like candle making, beads rolling, tailoring, among others. For the future, we are hoping to introduce more projects like mushroom growing, livestock farming, poultry and fish farming.
