Sobre nosotros

The Institute for Participatory Interaction in Development (IPID) was incorporated in January 1996 as a Non Profit Company and is non-sectarian and non- governmental.

IPID Vision is community development through participatory approaches.

Its Mission and Strategy is the enhancement of the capacities of governmental and non-governmental organisations for supporting a change in the pattern of personal behaviour and attitudes towards a reversal of roles through participatory interaction in development aimed at empowering local communities to manage resources and gain access to information and available services.

Capacity building focuses on the improvement, promotion and practice of participatory methodologies providing training/services/consultancies. The range of activities, capacity building (training) / consultancies cover:
• Baseline surveys, midline surveys, end-line surveys / end of project surveys and social audits for projects implemented ensuring community participation
• Evaluations, research and surveys using mixed methodology including questionnaire surveys and qualitative assessments using Participatory Methodologies such as FGDs, Key Informant Interviews and Participatory Ranking Methodology
• Consultancies for Conducting Social Assessments and Program / Project Evaluations using Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) – Development Assistance Committee (DAC) Criteria (Relevance, Effectiveness, Efficiency, Impact and Sustainability)
• Facilitation of Self Evaluation and Training in Self Evaluation Techniques including use of community score card methodology for promoting good governance
• Participatory Planning of Programmes and back-stopping for implementation including tailor-made programmes to meet Organisational / Project needs using LFA/ZOPP Methodology
• Participatory Research/Action Research for Socio-Economic and Poverty Assessments

IPID initiates and supports:
• Documentation of experiences relating to the use of Participatory Development Methodologies and Networking (in-country, regional and international)
• Participation and organisation of Exchange Programmes (in country, South-South and International)
• IPID hosts the Child Protection in Crisis (CPC) Learning Network Sri Lanka in collaboration with the CPC Learning Network, Columbia University, USA.
• Resource Centre for Participatory Learning and Action (RCPLA) as one of a series of Networks around the world. It also functioned as the Secretariat of the PID/PRA Network in Sri Lanka and collaborates with the Institute for Development Studies (IDS, UK.) and IIED (UK).
• IPID has both intensive and extensive experience in providing consultancy Services to diverse fields of development such as Agriculture, Livelihood, Gender, Education, ICT, Environment, Forestry, Wildlife, Natural Resources Management, Irrigation, Plantations, Planning, Health, Child Protection, Social, Social Safeguards Monitoring, etc and is able to provide services in Sinhala, Tamil and English.

Mallika R. Samaranayake is the Chairperson and Founder Member of the Institute for Participatory Interaction in Development (IPID).
