Qui sommes-nous

Jyothirgamaya Foundation, founded in 2015, a pioneering effort in India, which endeavors to empower the blind in all spheres of life. Jyothirgamaya seeks to not only lead the blind to live enlighten and holistic lives, but also attempts to give the sighted population a new perspective on how to look at the blind.

Our goal
To integrate and assimilate them into mainstream society. There are many obstacles in the way of the blind which stand as a hindrance to their success. We at Jyothirgamaya endeavor to enable them to overcome these obstacles. Our aim is to bring a new spark into the lives of Blind and to take them out of their comfort zones and open the doors to a new world!

Our vision
To see a barrier-free environment where the blind are empowered to use their potential, contribute and be at the forefront of society. A home where they are bread winners contributing to their families. A society which is conducive to their overall growth and provides a platform of free expression for them.

Our mission
To empower the blind in all possible spheres of life, through need-based individualized training in all necessary skills paving the way for sharpening their personalities, and enabling them to get suitable employment and to sensitize the general public on their outlook towards the Visually Impaired and provide them with an equal opportunity to live as every other citizen does

What we do
• Audio Library: Jyothirgamaya and Empowerment center for the blind (ECB)join hands in the onset of a new venture, the AmrithaVarshini audio library, which makes an abundance of books available to the blind.
• Daily Living Skills: The general skills taught are brushing, personal grooming, dressing, identifying clothes, money management, cooking etc
• Leisure and Adventure Trips
• Sensitization: Jyothirgamaya conducts sensitization training in school and college students and also for companies in order to create attitudinal change among the general public towards persons with disabilities.sensitisation includes role plays depicting situations of persons with disabilities etc.
• The disability awareness training also includes workplace solutions awareness building and access Technology such as screen readers scanning,
• Interpersonal Skill: Jyothirgamaya has introduced a training in interpersonal skill and life skills. Under this training the candidates seeking employment shall be taught proper communication skills, life skills, behavioral pattern, suitable body language, interview skills and resume writing. These skills along with the computer training shall pave the way for their employment both in the public as well as in the private sector
• Road to Independence Camp: The camps entail intensive training in mobility, Braille, basic computer use, daily living skills if needed, and personality development. We invite skilled and inspirational motivational speakers and life skill trainers to conduct training sessions. We provide free food and accommodation during the camps.
• Assistive technology: Jyothirgamaya provides fully-fledged training in windows, both basic and advanced. We cover four major operating systems in the training: Windows, Linux, MAC OS. The aspects covered under the training are the use of both Jaws and NVDA screen readers, Microsoft Word and Excel, and internet usage.
• Women Empowerment and Counselling: we also have started to conduct workshops s on women rights, inclusion, sexual and reproductive health, interpersonal skills and other empowerment activities in collaboration with mobility international USA and Kerala federation for the blind, and Asianet.
