Qui sommes-nous

Youth Project Excellence (YPE) is a local non-profit and non-governmental organization founded in April 2016. It is a research, youth advocacy and direct service organization and its headquarter is in Lilongwe City, area 23, Malawi. YPE is committed to encouraging, developing and honing the skills of the young Malawians and Refugees.

YPE empowers the youth’s access to essential rights to quality education, comprehensive sexuality education (CSE) as well as economic empowerment. YPE also implements crosscutting themes i.e climate change, environmental conservation and water sanitation and health (WASH).

Focus areas:
Youth rights advocacy:
• Campaign for youth’s access to education services and other opportunities
• Community mobilization on youth rights to association and participation
• Awareness campaigns on youth rights to decision making
• Campaign against sexual and gender based violence
• Campaign for youth’s rights to good health
Comprehensive Sexuality Education:
• YPE helps the youth to reach the highest attainable standard of sexual health, including access to sexual and reproductive health care services, seek, receive and impart information related to sexuality, sexuality education, respect for bodily integrity, choose their partner and consensual marriage, decide to be sexually active or not, consensual sexual relations, decide whether or not, and when, to have children and pursue a satisfying, safe and pleasurable sexual life.
Economic empowerement:
• YPE supports out of school youth including persons with disabilities (PWDs) through the implementation of itsiIncome generating activities (IGA) model in T/A Mpama-Mbulumbudzi-Chiradzulu district. This involves the provision of entrepreneurship skills trainings (youth leadership, group dynamics, village savings and loans (VSL) and business management training (BMT). This is done to increase economic empowerment and social mobilization of targeted communities to solve social economic problems. YPE provides start up capitals for IGA to out of school youth and parents and guardians of school going children.

Projects:
• Drought resistant crops: YPE in partnership with Voluntary Aid Environmental Partnership (VAEP) club are implementing a 3 year climate change, environmental conservation project called achieving zero hunger through planting of drought resistant crops (DRC) among young farmers project in Zomba district-Malawi (
• Youth Excellence Awards: YPE has been implementing annual Youth Excellence Awards (YEA) component that honour young people pursuing outstanding studies in different fields. YPE in collaboration with a UK based organization called Watipa is providing tuition fee scholarships for exceptional young undergraduates in Malawi universities and secondary schools aged 25 years and below. YPE also provides career guidance to secondary school students, motivation talks and coaching sessions for those who wish to apply for scholarships.
• We Are One project: YPE in partnership with Save the Needy Organization, a Community Based organization is implementing We Are One project in Lilongwe District aiming at reducing new HIV infections among adolescent girls and young women aged 13-24 and promote the quality of life of those living with HIV in Malawi. The project is trying to achieve the following increased awareness among adolescents in HIV /AIDS and its linkages with other social issues such as sexual and gender based violence, building and strengthen the capacity of young people through vocational skills training and business management (IGA Model) for improved livelihoods and strengthening linkages and collaboration among actors and stakeholders on HIV/AIDS and sexual and gender based violence activities.
