About us

Minga House Foundation was founded in 2014 by Glen Galindo. Minga House Foundation is a non-profit organization founded to host & facilitate community service and/or internship roles by international volunteers in the beautiful Colombian Coffee Region. The non-profit Colombian foundation is dedicated to the service learning engagement between foreign volunteers and our local communities through collectively meeting real-life service needs. There is no better way to improve your Spanish language skills than by exploring a new culture immersed into a well-defined integrated role within the community. Upon hearing your interest and understanding your professional background we are able to place you into the right volunteering and/or internship opportunity either internal to Minga House Foundation or external at a nearby partner organizations. Our professional bilingual staff will ensure you are SAFE, LEARNING, and having FUN!

Minga entails a collaborative work system that dates back to the Incas. It refers to the commitment, contract or work agreement between two or more people. The word minga also stands for meeting or reunion.
The word minga has continued to evolve in that direction. Nowadays, in South America, it refers to community work or work among friends when they need help from each other.


Our mission is to bring the global community closer together through the facilitation of community service projects.

Our vision is to be an impactful change agent in igniting a passion for community service and higher education among the youth in Colombia for a brighter and more positive future.

To accomplish this goal, we engage the international community in sharing community service in the areas of health, education, agriculture, and the arts in Colombia so as help form meaningful role model relationships between our guest volunteers and the local Colombian community.

Projects
Our community enrichment programs participate in a number of projects that enhance quality of life in a developing community; from cleaning up a river or a neighborhood, constructing or refurbishing schools, clinics, community centers or residences, to planting trees, flowers and vegetable gardens!

• Youth Home for Girls: School within a School - Reading Program
• Don Ramiro - Shelter for the Elderly Homeless: Social Work, Health, Education
• Animal Rescue: Animal Shelter & Veterinarian Assistant


Glen G. Galindo is the Founder & Executive Director of Minga House Foundation.

For other net participants we can offer an expert guidance through trained staff, give an expert opinion, procure expert information and establish new contacts in the field of our work.
