Qui sommes-nous

The volunteer project TOWANIKA was formed in 2014 in order to give young Ugandans more access to education. The term in Luganda means "NEVER GIVE UP!"
Deeply moved by a trip to this country, the friendship began with our tour organizer Warren Ankwasa, who is based in Uganda, and who began to establish contact between us and our Dutch friends. Our projects are targeted and give children, above all, a perspective on life. The idea of“helping people to help themselves” is the basis of all we do.
Together we are committed to supporting education, health, nutrition and access to water, but at the same time also promoting community development.

We from the TOWANIKA project are members of the non-profit Augsburg association “Akuma for Afrika” which translates as "A heart for Africa"
The association was founded in December 2013, after several participants on a drum trip to Ghana, got to know the country and the people there and felt the need to help. At the same time, they felt the need to make Ghanaian culture better known in Germany.

Projects Uganda Aid Towanika:
• Since 2014 we have been supporting the Victory Primary School in Kampala, Kazo (in one of the 4 slums in Kampala),
• Since 2015 also in a rural area, Kayunga District, St.Marks School Wanteete, and
• The Rainbow House of Hope for young people in Kampala since 2016. and the new Maya agricultural project (approx. 45 minutes from the capital Kampala)
• School sponsorships
• Volunteers: TOWANIKA is closely networked with other organizations such as Rainbow House of Hope (www.rainbowhouseofhope.info) or the Beso Foundation (www.besofoundation.org). Many of these projects are looking for volunteers who can deal with children and impart knowledge to them. HIV prevention and hygiene are also important aspects that are taught.

On request we can offer other net participants advice, give a presentation, and provide up-to-date information and contacts in the field of our work.
