About us

NGO Hope and Health (Public Association Speranţă şi Sănătate) exists since October 14, 2001 and was registered by the Ministry of Justice on November 01, 2001 (No1997/App.1). It was founded by parents whose adult children suffer from mental diseases.

Mission
Hope and Health is a nongovernmental, nonprofit organization that supports people with intellectual disabilities (PwID) and their families living in the municipality Chisinau, by providing social and consulting services with the purpose of their social integration, protection of their rights and interests, such as the right to a decent life, the right to support and the right to self-realization.

Our objectives are:
• to provide social services for people with intellectual disabilities, mental disorders and socially deprived;
• provision of moral and psychological support to their families, counseling for parents (guardians) on disabled care;
• implementation and defense of civil and social rights, other legitimate rights and freedoms of persons with intellectual disability and psychiatric disorders;
• supporting and carrying out charitable activities for people with mental disabilities and other disadvantaged people;
• contributing to the promotion of moral values;
• performing other activities permitted by law.

Projects
• The main project of the Hope and Health NGO is to open and maintain a day care center for people with mental disabilities. The day care center for adults with mental disabilities was opened during the project with Janivo Stichting. Municipal Council Decision № 11/44-57 of free use of a former kindergarten № 27, V. Lupu Street 81 / 2. Roof repair and sanitary engineering of the Hope and Health Rehabilitation Center, the Swiss representative office in Moldova.
• Ceramic production workshop: In the workshop beneficiaries learn to manufacture ceramic products by three methods: casting in plaster molds, stamping in plaster molds and hand molding.
• Kitchen: Equipment of the kitchen and cooking trainings for people with mental disabilities, World Association of Churches. • Creating conditions for cooking, providing meals and cooking trainings for young people with mental disabilities supported by ERSTE Foundation through DIAKONIE AUSTRIA and the Swiss Confederation, acting through the Swiss Cooperation Office in the RM.
• Specialized Reintegration Support for Mentally Challenged Victims and Potential Victims of Trafficking funded by two sponsors - United Nations Voluntary Trust Fund on Contemporary Forms of Slavery and Royal Norwegian Embassy (Small Project Fund for Moldova, Spring round 2010), in cooperation with International Organization for Migration in Moldova.
• Thanks to Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) in Moldova, a pilot project was implemented - Music therapy for mentally disabled people.
• Legal protection for parents/guardians of people with mental disabilities and assistance in maintaining the fundamental rights of persons with intellectual and psychiatric disabilities" supported by American people through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in the frame of MPSCS Programme implemented by FHI360 in Moldova.
• Our beneficiaries participated in 14 joint environmental projects with a local ecological organization - «Pomul Vieţii».
