Qui sommes-nous

The non-government not-for-profit union (association) Georgian Society for the Protection and Safety of Animals (GSPSA) was founded in 2006.
Three years before the registration of the organization a shelter for stray dogs was formed with the help and direct participation of union’s current members. Since then the shelter has been a home for over a hundred animals, the majority of which has been adopted by animal lovers and caring owners. The shelter for stray animals functions to this day.

The main objectives of the union are
• protecting and saving animals,
• preserving biological diversity and
• establishing protection mechanism and tools,
• creating harmonious relationships between humans and the animal world,
• studying international standards and practice as well as integrating the recent best practice and standards into public mentality in Georgia.

The main goal of GSPSA is fight for establishing legislations suitable for the protection of animal rights in Georgia, ratification of the international acts in the field by the state legislative body.

Projects and Programs:
• Charity programme initiative by “Biblus” and “Crafters Club”: An exhibition organized as a charity event and handmade items. Received money will be donated to GSPSA. This program uniquely facilitates the awareness raising among adolescents in the field of protection and survival of animals.
• Food to an Animal Shelter
• A New Initiative of Company “Zoomart” #adoptfromashelter# has started: The goal of the project of “Zoomart” with hashtag #adoptfromashelter is to promote and encourage the adoption of animals who were abandoned or found in the streets, because we think that we should not choose our friends depending on their breed and exactly animals who are waiting for their future owners for years require special care.
• GSPSA Started Guardian from Distance: The program enables individuals to become remote owners of GSPSA shelter dogs – such owners care after specific dog. In this case the animal is in the shelter, while the owner facilitates monthly donation (remote ownership fee) in the amount determined by GSPSA. The main aim of the program is to cover necessary expenses of the shelter animals, receive help from specific person – remote owner and his/her participation in the actual adoption of the animal. The program also provides opportunity for people who wish to have dogs, but due to various reasons are not able to. One of the objectives of the program also is facilitation of humane attitude and care for the shelter animals.

Teimuraz Tsikoridze is the Chairman of the Georgian Society for the Protection and Safety of Animals (GSPSA).
