Sobre nosotros

Established in 2011, Foundation for Development and Relief Africa –FIDRA is a rural community based organization. We are a partnership of young people, churches and the local community committed to ending extreme poverty.
Our programs are community centred and provide local innovative solutions that allow children go to school, farmers gain access to better farming skills and community have better access to water, food, education and health services. We advocate for rights and equality

FIDRA’s vision is to create a society where girls, youth and young women are informed, empowered and freely given the opportunity to take part in decision making, state leadership and nation building.

Our mission is to ignite the ability of girls, youth and young women to create and access opportunities that improve their lives and also ensure that young people are influencing policy decisions that help realize their rights.

Our Goal is to enhance girls, youth and young women access quality education, health and livelihood and to provide platforms and opportunities to be change makers.

Our Programs
• Sustainable Agriculture: We help farmers gain access to high-quality inputs, improve soil quality, conserve water & prepare for climate shocks. FIDRA strengthen agriculture value chains through partnership with small holder farmers and Small and Medium Agricultural Enterprises (SMEs) to create access to agricultural value addition, market information and providing training’s to equip youth and women with requisite skills needed to produce high quality and marketable products that create jobs, improve economic well-being and involves use of current technology in agriculture value chains. We train smallholder’s farmers on weather information enabling them to plan and make important decision regarding planting, harvest and storage.
• Business Skills: We help businesses gain access to the finance they need and provide training on how to professionalize & fulfill their potential.
• Environmental Protection: FIDRA promotes the protection of environment and natural resources through the sustainable management of fields, forests, grazing lands & water resources. FIDRA created a DRR and Climate change awareness campaign to fight against calamities of flooding and wind. We became whistle blower bringing together women and men, youth and children at community grassroots level to create a platform to sensitize local communities on DRR and Sandai Framework.
• Human Rights Response: We advocate and promote observation of human rights through bringing together humanitarian actors to ensure a coherent and principled response to emergencies and mitigate these emergencies as soon as possible. We are currently seeking partnerships to support our cause towards defending human rights through offering friendly platforms for the community to freely express their voice to the outside world.
• Public Health: We bridge the gaps and addresses health challenges affecting rural poor communities in the remotest and post-conflict-affected areas of Northern Uganda. FIDRA helps people in Northern Uganda improve quality of life by supporting the development of locally sustainable drinking water resources, sanitation facilities, & hygiene education programs.
• Life Skills and Vocational Training: We support marginalized young women and youth who are confronted with poverty, discrimination, disasters or diseases by means of life skills education, vocational training and HIV/Aids education.
