About us

Sarathi Development Foundation, founded in 1998, is working on participatory principles to prioritize and address needs of children, adolescent girls and women in the sphere of integrated community development. Our core belief and guiding principles are based on the fact that people have inherent potential to bring change in their lives. It has evolved evidence based participatory methodologies to engage children, adolescents, youth and women in identifying and addressing their needs. This includes innovative and proven strategies like integrated micro planning on need based indicators, community capacities and resource building, children and youth led advocacy system, life skill education, behavioural change communication, community based supportive supervision system, ICT application, government system strengthening and mainstreaming with government services and schemes. These strategies interconnect self, collective and government actions to achieve long term social impact.

Programmes and projects:
• Disha Children’s Project: It implements proven programme models and practices focused on mother child health & nutrition, education, child protection, adolescents’ health, basic life skills, enterprise education, livelihood development.
• Saloni Model: Thematic focus of the project is on education, child protection, health, nutrition, water, sanitation and hygiene.
• Jagrati Model: Program aims preventing child labour by encouraging education, building child led advocacy systems among children to access their rights as per UNCRC, influencing community behaviours and enhancing access to development services like education, child protection, health, nutrition, water, sanitation, and hygiene and livelihood development.
• ReMind Scale up: Reducing Maternal and Newborn Death project (ReMiND) Scale up is technology driven initiative being implemented in five high priority districts of Uttar Pradesh. It implements Supportive Supervision Application under the guidance of National Health Systems Resource center (NHSRC) and the National Health Mission, for strengthening ASHA Sanginis to support ASHAs in delivering their key responsibilities at the community level on mother and child health indicators.
• Core Group Polio Project: Project aims at community mobilisation, demand generation for health services and system strengthening with a focus on mother and child health including polio eradication.
• Save Water Project: Save water is an integral part of Integrated water, sanitation and hygiene project being implemented with district wide approach in Fatehpur district. It aims to achieve water security, access to sanitation facilities & hygiene practices in communities, schools and child health care facilities in rural areas through community-based strategies and convergence with government schemes
• Capacity Building for Gram Panchayat Development Planning: Sarathi provided technical support for GPDP strengthening processes in districts of Lalitpur, Jhansi, Bulandshar, Fatehpur, and Barabanki through training, data base of social registry and training modules development.
• Technical Assistance for Community and School WASH: Sarathi Development Foundation in partnership with UNICEF provided technical assistance in 15 blocks of Sitapur district.
• Truckers Intervention: This project hopes to achieve the goals of preventing HIV/Aids in India. The major strategies adopted are counselling and clinical services, peer education system, behaviour change communication (BCC), creating an enabling environment and establishing linkages with other HIV services.
