About us

Human Rights Reporters Ghana (HRRG) is a combined group of journalists and human rights advocates formed purposely with the aim of shedding light, sounding alarm and drawing the attention of duty bearers to take the necessary actions to tackle issues in a bid to end up all forms of human rights abuses the country is confronted with which limits the freedom and fundamental human rights all and sundry especially women, girls and children who are the most hit.
HRR-GH is mandated by the laws of Ghana to operate as a Non-Government Organization (NGO) having been duly registered under the Registered General Department, Ghana dated Thursday, February 14, 2019, and presented with a certificate to that effect.

Mission statement of HRRG
• Working to end all forms of issues pertaining to violation of fundamental human rights of all, particularly women, girls and children in Ghana.
• To help empower women and girls to realize their dignity and rights and assist them to uphold those rights.
• In carrying out its mission HRRG will focus on pressing human rights violations, both acute and chronic, especially within the following areas: Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBVs) and Harmful Practices, Child rights (Child Trafficking, Modern Slavery etc.)
• Fight and champion the rights of head porters (Kayayei) Gender equality and FGM, Child/Early/forced Marriages for girl, rape and defilement, Domestic Violence, Kidnapping of girls

Vision
The vision of HRR-GH is to report on, perform advocacy role for and support women, girls and children in issues relating to sexual abuse, child trafficking, champion the rights of Kayayei (head porters), issues of child marriage, and rape to ensure the freedom, safety and wellbeing of the vulnerable.

Projects:
With research, pilot projects and campaigning, we are at the forefront of testing and shaping new ideas to help give children, girls and women around Ghana the best advocacy voice, empowerment, and to champion their cause.
• Edu-Train-Kaya Project: Kayayei is a term used to describe women and girls who earn money by carrying loads on their heads in urban lorry parks and markets in urban areas and cities of Ghana. They predominantly migrate from the three Northern Regions of the country namely; the Northern, Upper East and Upper West Regions. The Human Rights Reporters Ghana aims at empowering these very important girls with bright futures and has, therefore, decided to embark on a project to raise money to support such persons include other 200 street girls to go back to school in a bid to guarantee them a brighter future.
• Kidnapping Sensitization Campaign: In the wake of kidnapping in Ghana, there is the urgent need for information, education and awareness creation which must be carried to every part of Ghana, to every child, woman, and man. Human Rights Reporters Ghana has therefore put together a team of dedicated volunteers made up of journalist, Human Rights Activist and lawyers to send the message to our schools, market centres, churches, mosques and communities. The kidnapping sensitization is part of our KTT project. (Kidnapping, Teenage Pregnancy and Tramadol (Drug Abuse).
• KTT project: As a human rights organization committed to protection and promotion of human rights, we have embarked on a sensitization on Kidnapping, Teenage Pregnancy and Tramadol (Drug Abuse) campaign Project dubbed "KTT Project to educate all Ghanaians particularly school children, women, girls and children. The project which also comprise of human rights education seeks to educate the masses on their rights so they can always be safe from all social vices that violates their freedom and fundamental human rights and dignity.

For other net participants we can offer an expert guidance through trained staff, procure expert information and establish new contacts in the field of our work. Due to the nature of our organization, we are limited in further support but I must say our key areas collaboration and mentoring support in other words we support by providing human resources.
