Educate A Child International (EACI) is an indigenous registered Non Governmental Organization registered as a Community Based Organization .The offices are located in upper Kizungu/Habitat, Nyamwamba Division, Kasese municipality.(process is on to have it registered as a full NGO).
Educate A child international focuses its program are in all sub counties in Kasese district (Rwenzori region). We are focusing criticlly on four thematic areas of education, environmental conservation, health and economic empowerment to transform society

Mission
To contribute to the development process by promoting human rights and advocacy, innovation and local solutions for poverty reduction, better service delivery and sustainable development.

Activities/Projects:
• Village Saving and Loan Association project: In an effort to empower women and young mothers, we have been able to organize them into small saving and loan associations so that they are able to save and lend among themselves. This model is efficient because women are not able to attain huge loans from financial institutions due to lack of security. The Biggest challenge we face however is the scarcity of funds to support their savings so that they are able to take reasonable loan amounts to boost their businesses.
• Keep a Girl child in school project: Every year, we run a campaign to mobilize menstrual pads for girls in Kasese. It should be noted that, getting or affording a pad is not easy for most parents in Kasese. Most girls resort to using leaves, paper, dung, filthy cloth pieces etc, these have resulted to a wider spread of diseases however. Its crystal clear in Rwenzori region that most girls have dropped out of school due to fear of how they will look in class with blood stains due to lack of pads. We therefore run campaigns to mobilize money and physical pads which we later supply to girls in school. These have never been enough though.
• Promote my Talent project: In an effort to promote local talent, be it artists, comedians, dancers, we set up a recording studio in Kasese near our office where youths record their music. We also acquired a camera to shoot their videos. We partner with local radio stations that help play their music and all effort is on so that their videos are also played on televisions.
Great benefits have been realized as currently they are hired at times to go sing at music concerts, shows and functions. We are optimistic this will act as a good income source. • Global Schoolhouse project: Just like mentioned in the preamble, Kasese has been hit by conflicts for decades which has rendered most families poor and unable to take their children to school. In the area where we work, there are thousands of children who don’t go to school because parents are in a sorry state. We therefore in partnership with the Global schoolhouse initiative an Organization in Canada established a schoolhouse where we provide free education to children. This is not like the normal schools but we have a special curriculum we provide to children to prevent children from growing in an illiterate state. More details about the school are available here www.theglobalschoolhouse.org. The school is completely run by volunteers who conduct all lessons.
• The Clean cooking and clean energy project: In partnership with Sun24 an Organization based in the USA, we are working with all catholic Dioceses in Uganda(catholic women association), Anglican Dioceses( Mothers Union of Uganda), in refugee settlements to implement the clean cooking and clean energy project. We have come up with many successful cooking techniques that have seen women testify in cooking in less hours, with little wood, and less smoke. This has a positive impact on lives of women and the environment itself. Small solar lanterns that last 3 years have also been distributed throughout Uganda in an effort to “fight” the use of small kerosene lamps that emit a lot of smoke that is dangerous.
