DHARA (Development of Health, Hygiene and Rural Action) is a nonprofit developmental organization working since 1989 and acting for rural mass of Rajasthan with a unique approach of resource development and creating community assets.

Activities:
• Health: To improve health outcome by increasing uptake of health services at the facilities or during outreach sessions.
• Education: Our services essentially focus on increasing accessibility to education centers and promoting quality of education at the community level.
• Sanitation and Hygiene/WASH and ARSH: To promote best sanitation and hygienic practices across the communities through demonstration & provision of sanitary facilities.
• Skill Development: Dhara also provide its importance in building professional skills of adolescents/youths through personality development,imparting soft-skills education etc. and providing a platform through linking with concerned individuals and institutions.
• Technology: Our emphasis is, therefore to improve the socio-economic status of the poorest community through convergence of indigenous as well as modern technology.
• Resource Mobilization: Our strategy also includes Resource Mobilization while implementing different social development projects. We assist and bring the deprived section of the society into mainstream of development through mobilization of various available scopes or resources.
• Disaster Aid: Disaster management and immediate on ground support during such circumstances is another component of our functional activity. With our presence in Barmer dist. of Rajasthan (belongs to Thar desert) which is considered as a disaster-prone area. So that we dedicated ourselves to provide relief services during disaster and emergency circumstances.
• Collaboration: We often collaborate with local as well as national level stakeholders to increase effective focus on prominent developmental issues minimization and provide technical assistance in planning process. Collaboration not only help planning and execution better, but also generates various engagements at local stakeholders level.

Projects:
• The Nand Ghar-Project: The Nandghars will run as children’s education and health centre in the morning and train women in vocational skills in the second half. This will be a revolutionary measure to eradicate malnutrition in children and create women entrepreneurs across India.
• Mobile Medical Van: Mobile Health Van has two components; first one is General health checkup in which a qualified MBBS doctor providing his services to the community members and doing the health OPD. Second component is the Eye care in which an Optometrist is providing the eye care services and also providing the necessary referral services to the needy one. Dhara Sansthan has also tied up withthe Global Eye Hospital, Raniwara (Jalore) and Netra Jyoti hospital, Barmer for cataract operations.
• Sustainable livelihood in Thar through capacity building and demonstration: The main objective behind this project was to make people aware about better technologies to increase agriculture production and earn profit. The pilot study was done on the basis of four parameters like impact of line sowing, improved seeds, sowing against the flow of rainwater and RML service. All these parameters would be segregated with individual farmers. Project also was aimed to develop a seed bank of quality seeds for future use.
• Financial Literacy Program: .The major purpose of this program is to make the villagers aware regarding the changing economic scenario and also to empower the villagers and the village communities in such a manner that they could sustain their income in a planned way so that it would prove to be helpful in the future during the time of need.
