About us

Manzil - An afterschool learning center in the heart of New Delhi, is a non-profit, youth-led learning center providing a supportive community and resources for students from low-income backgrounds to empower themselves and one another through learning, teaching, creativity and encouraging each other to see the world in new ways.

The vision
Located near Khan Market in New Delhi, India, our vision is to produce good human beings by believing in our students and all that they are capable of.

Our work
Manzil offers young people, from age 8 and up, a safe after-school space where they get exposure to a wide range of teaching environments, opportunities to look at education in new and meaningful ways, and learn by contributing to others’ learning.
Where students are teachers, and teachers are students. Manzil is education empowerment in action. Learning is being reimagined by its vibrant community of students committed to empowering themselves through empowering one another.
At Manzil, students are given the opportunity to learn but also to share. Manzil strives to make learning more interesting, process-oriented, contextsensitive, and linked with experiential understanding. The goal of Manzil’s programs is to provide a space where education goes beyond academic learning to include a child’s motivations, aspirations, dreams, unique talents, and qualities.
An important result of Manzil’s empowerment of students has been that Manzil today is an entirely youth led and youth driven organisation.
In operation for over two decades, Manzil has touched the lives of over 5000 youth from local low-income backgrounds by engaging their critical thinking skills, broadening their educational exposure, and creating opportunities for the exploration of extracurricular and creative talents. Flexibility, a family atmosphere, and the internal encouragement of leadership development are all essential ingredients of the Manzil experience
Many students have gone on to roll out their own initiatives for social change, and have also developed special competencies to conduct art, music and theatre workshops, which are all part of the Manzil eco-system.
