Qui sommes-nous

GROW Colourful Ghana e.V. is a registered charitable association since 2018 and is based in Herzebrock-Clarholz.

The purpose of the association is primarily to promote sustainable development cooperation in Ghana.

Our vision is ONE WORLD in which all people can shape their lives self-determined, in solidarity and in harmony with nature and the environment.
No one should be forced to live in wretched living conditions or be forced to leave home and family because of need and poverty.
We have set ourselves the task of creating environments in which young people in Ghana can develop their potential and realise their own perspectives.

Our work:
• We promote the bamboo sector in Ghana. Through this we contribute not only to climate protection, but to bring economic growth and development in rural areas of Ghana.
• We achieve this through project implemantation and the procurement of the necessary funds in Germany.
• We plan the projects together with the local population and implement them with the help of partnerships and a qualified team on site.

Project:
A Bamboo Training Centre in Fiaso, Bono East Region Ghana: The construction of the bamboo training center is a sustainable approach with which we promote the bamboo sector in Ghana and contribute to the achievement of the sustainable development goals of the world agenda. The local people should be able to discover the enormous potential of the bamboo deposits in Ghana and thus create long-term livelihoods. The aim is sustainable development in disadvantaged regions of Ghana. Bamboo is the strategic element of our development cooperation.

Why Bamboo?
• Bamboo is not only one of the most sustainable and fastest growing raw materials on earth; it is also one of the most versatile natural resource in the world.
• Bamboo grows extremely fast and stores a lot of CO2 during its rapid growth… It is one of the plants that absorbs the most CO2 during its lifetime. And iit also releases 35% more oxygen than other trees of the same size.
• The bamboo plant continuously makes new culms through its underground root system (rhizomes). Therfore, large quantities can be harvested annually without the plant dying and its stands being endangered.
• Bamboo prevents soil erosion.
• Bamboo offers a constantly growing variety of uses and provides sustainable alternatives for the use of increasingly scarce resources such as wood, metal or oil.
• Bamboo is a sustainable and durable construction material when preserved with environmentally friendly salt infusions.
• Bamboo grows in some of the poorest regions of the world. It can be used as strategic element in the global development agenda to create jobs and income, especially in deprived rural areas.
