Qui sommes-nous

In October 2017 the association TanzaniaKids was founded by Sibylle Schuppe. It supports an orphanage in Ifakara with the care of children and adolescents. Tekla Lyenga, a committed, Tanzanian lone fighter, runs this house.
With our association we want to help enable these children to lead a decent life.
Above all, we see the key to success in educational and professional support.

Our goals
The association would like to contribute to the financial security of the basic needs of the orphans. With our commitment, we want to provide the children with adequate nutrition and preventive health care as well as the chance of an education appropriate to their abilities.
Tanzania is one of the poorest countries in Africa. Only one in four children can read and write. The family is primarily responsible for professional advancement, as secondary schools are fee-paying and advertised positions are often passed on within the family.
The association therefore supports all orphans who are allowed to attend this secondary school or university.
There are still numerous prejudices about living conditions in Africa. Therefore, the association wants to provide information about the real world of orphans and street children, their difficult educational situation and health care.
We see our actions as a small contribution to reducing the social, national and international inequalities that exist today. Those who support this commitment also help to prevent poverty migration.

What we do
• At the beginning of 2018, the association supported the purchase of essential school uniforms and school materials and helped finance food such as rice, oil and vegetables.
• A sewing machine and a bicycle were also bought for a schoolgirl whose school is no longer within walking distance.
• For some children the school fees for the secondary school were covered.
• All children took part in dental prophylaxis.

Projects
The association helps people to help themselves
• A computer and needlework centre is currently being built on the property of the orphanage. With the donations, the association finances the completion of this training centre as well as the purchase of computers and sewing machines.
• An energy-efficient solar system is planned for energy generation.
• This training centre enables young people to continue their professional development so that they can stand on their own two feet later.
• Information events for the village community should also take place in this building complex. In addition to health education, lectures on organic agriculture are to be organized.

Sibylle Schuppe is the founder and chairwoman of TansaniaKids.

On request we can offer other net participants advice, give a presentation, and provide up-to-date information and contacts in the field of our work.
