Qui sommes-nous

Bridge of Friendship (BRÜCKE DER FREUNDSCHAFT) offers its partners and friends in Zambia and Tanzania help and support in direct cooperation. We have been a registered, non-profit association since 1976 and work together with community centres in Zambia and Tanzania. The focus is on supporting people in educational and health institutions and self-help groups, as well as the absolutely necessary establishment of a certain basic infrastructure. We work for the integration of disabled people, disadvantaged people of all kinds and, above all, children and women who have to live in difficult situations.

For us, the main areas of focus are:
• Health care - health care for the people in our partner locations
• Education – our aim is that children should be able to find a connection to the school system at all, can at least complete the primary school and that secondary school students can take the exams at their school location and do not have to make a day trip first.
• Water supply - the fight for water has long since begun in the south. While Nestlé and other companies offer drinking water in plastic bottles in the supermarkets in the capital Lusaka, the rural population is left with nothing. There is either no water or the quality of the water is poor. Often existing wells are dry. Due to changes in the climate, the water table has dropped and the wells are no longer producing anything. The water in the streams is mostly contaminated with bilharzia.

Our work
• After many years of mainly promoting the health facilities, we have now switched to the educational facilities. Kindergartens, PreSchool, Basic School and Secondary School.
• In addition, the so-called self-help groups are supported, for example oil presses (cooperatives), grain mills (cooperatives), the donkey project in Mpika, the tea project, prison chaplaincy, HIV-infected people (ambassador club and the drop-in club), and self-help facilities with agricultural products.
• The previous partner institutions are not to be forgotten: the Great Hospital of Chilonga, the Rural Health Centres in Mulanga, Ilondola, Mulilansolo and Chalabesa.
• The work with orphans, street children, disadvantaged and neglected children is also important. This is centred in Chinsali, Isoka, Nakonde, Mulanga and in Kiwere, Tanzania. This is where the CID funds flow into.
