Qui sommes-nous

Better World Cameroon (BWC) was founded in 1996 in Yaounde, Cameroon. Since that time our NGO work has transitioned from the Ndanifor Community Garden Project in Yaoundé to Ndanifor Permaculture Ecovillage Demonstration Centre in Bafut which is inspiring climate adaptation in Cameroon, Africa and the international community.

Mission Statement
We are dedicated to the goal of sustainability in our Ecovillage project-based vision, hands-on education oriented towards organic agriculture using indigenous knowledge and fair trade, while paying attention to the principles of innovative volunteerism and youth exchange.

We work on
• Developing local regenerative agricultural strategies
• Using Permaculture processes to enhance our Ecosystems .
• Designing a model African Ecovillage (Bafut Ecovillage Vision2020): intentional Community for youth entrepreneurship and women empowerment
• Promoting local government action that drives innovative development of resilient food and water systems and self-organization for cultural heritage restoration.
• Creating social businesses and Cooperatives to sustain our work .
The vision of a Bafut Ecovillage has inspired community partnerships and received international recognition. Our demonstration Center Ndanifor Permaculture Ecovillage is a learning centre in Bafut, offering facilities and hands-on learning test fields.

What we do
At Better World Cameroon we are creating a social movement that will help end youth unemployment and enhance sustainable development in Africa. We recruit unemployed young graduates as volunteers into our Non-Formal Education and Appropriate Technology Centres (Eco Villages) and mould them into sustainable agricultural technicians and Green Job Corps.
BWC has been working to heal youth apathy about national life, by focusing its work on the re-establishment of the connection of youth with their land, their food sources and their cultural heritage. Food is a core element of any culture. All cultural traditions circle around food. BWC educates people about the cruelties behind consumer goods, inflicted upon their fellow brothers & sisters and to the land. We want to bring ethics back to food.
