About us

ENIJE for Africa was founded in Düsseldorf in November 2008. It arose out of the non-profit project Enije in the Keteke Productions group, in whose name projects related to African art have been running for many years. Our intention is the furtherance of art, culture and education.

We realise our goals by integrative, cultural exchange between Europeans and Africans by means of events involving families, children and youths, including collaboration with churches and town facilities for children and young people.

Our organisation provides workshops and courses offering training in team spirit, tolerance, spontaneity, creativity, self confidence, motivation, rhetoric, motor skills, social behaviour, speech and communication and values. We present African art and culture in public events.

Enije for Africa's long-term objective is to build and maintain schools and centres for African children with artistic talents. This is planned to begin in Ayikai Doblo, Ghana, in early 2011. (veraltet!)

Projects:
• "WE MOVE" – Families in Movement: in this project we put our main focus on the integration of African families in Düsseldorf - Flingern. The family structures (single parents, separated couples, intact families) are diverse and include various problem situations.
• Africa Days: these are organised with the aim of inviting people of various backgrounds and social structures who are living in and around Düsseldorf to get together and overcome their reserve regarding foreign cultures. We want to encourage tolerance of, integration into and curiosity about other cultures and these events should contribute to that.
• The music project "ENIJE allstars": ENIJE allstars, one of ENIJE for Africa's projects which is supported by KETEKE productions, was started in 2004. ENIJE allstars is a platform for both young and experienced performers, allowing them to preserve and develop their African culture and art, as well as helping young artists to discover their own culture and to encounter other ones. At the same time, ENIJE for Africa endeavours to reactivate artists who have given up trying to earn a living from their art, and to enable them to integrate successfully into the job market.
In the Ghanaian language Akan, ENIJE means happiness, or joy.
• Gospel Time: this event gives an opportunity to experience anew the spirituality of gospel music and also serves our common goal, to achieve integration through culture.
• Hip da Drum – a child and youth project: with this new project we give all children, not only Africans, to get to know "Crossover", by which is meant not only musical but also cultural integration.
• SANKOFA – the African music project: with the Sankova music project we would like to give African music and musicians a space in which they can integrate and establish themselves in the European music scene. The aim of the project is to revive African music, to find the musicians here, to discover their music and to develop it.
