About us

Friends 4 Friends is a non-profit organization that supports social projects in Africa. Our association has been active since 2013.
Under the slogan ''Building the Future'' we enable low-income people from third countries to gain educational prospects.

Our focus is on education, health and art.

Projects:
• Desert Academy, Mauritania: In order to give several children access to formal education, we decided in 2020 to establish an educational project in Mauritania, the "Desert Academy". Several times a year, our association finances a truck with drinking water for the ''Tarheel'' residential area, one of the poorest areas of Nouakchott. On average, 25 tons of water supply 50 families for several days. In our program we work with two young local women who grew up in a privileged environment. They see the great challenges their country is facing and we want to make a difference together with them. With your support we select the participants for our "Educational Program". This includes school fees, transport to and from school, uniforms, school supplies and tuition costs. There are also regular health checks.
• Theatre Club, Namibia: The medium of theatre connects teenagers in the township of Katutura through entertainment and knowledge transfer. The idea of the Theatre Club is to bring together young Namibians from different backgrounds and unite them in creativity. 13 motivated boys and girls rehearse once a week - always with the aim of working on a piece together and being able to perform it on an official stage in front of an audience.
• Endelela Program, Namibia: In 2010, friends from Sweden, Holland, Austria and Germany got together to financially secure school attendance as well as food. Because: Many children from the "Home of Good Hope" (soup kitchen in the township of Katutura (Windhoek, Namibia)) cannot go to school regularly because their parents simply cannot finance school fees, uniforms and books. Friends 4 Friends supports pupils from all school levels and now also students as part of its so-called "Endelela Educational Program". The Friends 4 Friends Package for the students participating in the program not only includes direct on-site support from our local education manager, but also regular health checks and professional tutoring. Since 2015, there have also been regular health training courses for children, but also for adults. Topics such as "proper hand washing", "brushing your teeth", "healthy food for a small budget", "basics of wound care" and "HIV/AIDS" are discussed and processed in a way that is appropriate for the target group.
• Karibu Academy, Uganda: With the "Karibu Academy" project, Friends 4 Friends e.V. supports students from all school levels in the Kisenji slum - including boarding school - up to university. Apprentices are also included in the educational program because they do not receive wages for their work in Uganda but have to pay for their training themselves.

Andrea Rössler is the President of Friends 4 Friends.
