About us

School Bench was founded in 2013 with the aim of accompanying and supporting motivated young people on their educational path through to starting their careers, so that they can independently develop their potential and that of their society to the full.
School Bench is registered as a non-profit association in both Germany and Tanzania.

Our Mission & Vision
All young people have the same chance of quality education in Tanzania.
We accompany and support motivated young people on their educational path through to starting a career.

With the education fund for Tanzania we are investing in the education of young people, in their future and that of their country. Directly, without detours via third parties, transparent for everyone, sustainable in terms of social development.
A fund idea is always based on a joint effort. At School Bench, donors as well as Tanzanian parents and schools each contribute 50% of the investment in qualified education. In this way, social responsibility remains in one's own country.
With this structure, we are flexible enough to be able to cooperate with other development projects and to be involved as an “educational module” in street children projects, for example.
School Bench sees itself as a network of schools, relatives and educational sponsors that lives up to its social responsibility towards the poorest in society. In addition to our employees, this includes the educational mentors and sponsors, the schools and their teachers, relatives of the scholarship students, orphanages, churches, social welfare offices and much more. We call this solidarity aid.
Our idea of cooperation:
support quality instead of doing it yourself. Partnership with responsibility - Every educational institution that cooperates with School bench shares the sense of responsibility for the poorest in society. Schools and colleges commit to reducing their school fees for School Bench scholarship holders by up to 50%.
School Bench office (in the town of Iringa, Tanzania): Our base in the heart of Iringa Boma - Since the beginning of 2019, we have had our home in the Kaundama Building at the bus station, in the town centre of Iringa. Our office is not only a workplace for the team, but above all a meeting place for and with our scholarship holders.

Scholarship Program:
• Scholarships from elementary school to university
• Scholarships exclusively for half or full orphans
• No program to promote elites
• Equal treatment regardless of religion, gender and sexuality.

On request, we can provide advice for other network participants, give a presentation, and provide up-to-date specialist information and contacts in the field of our work.
