About us

Tooro Initiative for Socio-Economic Development (TISED-U) is a Community Development Organization located in Fort Portal City of Western Uganda. TISED-U was founded in 2015 as a Community Development Organization with a major aim of creating development opportunities geared to the socio-economic transformation of the People of Tooro Region.
TISED-U was officially registered with the Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) in 2020 with Registration No: 80020002729527.

Vision:
An economically transformed society of Tooro Region having equal access to quality social services and respecting the ideals of human rights, peace and good governance.

Mission
Improving the livelihood of the People of Tooro by enabling them access quality education services, adequate primary health care, access appropriate agronomic inputs, sustainable markets and finances, access to adequate housing and respect the ideals of human rights, peace and good-governance.

Objectives:
• Protect and improve local investment, household incomes, food and nutrition security, including asset base, through increased means of production and access to markets and financial services.
• Increase access to education for children from poor and vulnerable groups while strengthening the quality and capacity of teachers, teaching/learning environment and institutional structures.
• Strengthen community driven initiatives that reduce malnutrition and food insecurity by promoting sustainable food & nutrition security and livelihoods improvement innovations.
• Increased sustainable access to safe water and sanitation services for men, women and children in rural and periurban areas.
• Support and promote youth and women technical and vocational skills training and utilization in Tooro Region
• Enhance women’s rights and girl-child education and strengthen the participation and involvement of women and vulnerable groups in TISED-U’s and government development programs.
• Promote environment awareness, conservation and protection at community and all other levels through trainings, meetings, media etc.
• Conduct and support business and community development researches geared towards the holistic growth and development of Tooro Region and Uganda as a whole.

• The school and community nutrition promotion programme in Fort Portal Tourism City and Kabarole District
