About us

Sickle cell Association of Uganda (SAU) is a charity organization that was founded in July 2000 by concerned patients. It was registered as a Non-Governmental Organization in February 2007. It advocates for the rights of Sickle cell patients, improvement of the diagnostic and clinical services for patients and creates awareness about the disease.
Sickle Cell Association of Uganda (SAU) is now one of the grass roots organization representing the interests of patients in Uganda. We strive to change the perception that the majority of the population has in Uganda about the disease - that those who have this disease are worthless people in society, worth stigmatizing and discriminating against. Through counselling and education we strive to improve the lives of these families.
