About us

The Austrian Burma Center has been registered in Austria since 2005.

At the centre of our activities is the observance of human rights and the process of democratisation in Burma.
We lobby the Austrian government, the EU and the UN for the observance of human rights in Burma. We demand the implementation of human rights for refugees from Burma worldwide, especially in Burma's neighbouring countries and South East Asia.
We organise events and demonstrations in Austria and work with the media.
We provide workshops in schools, film shows and talks in educational institutions. A small free library of books and videos is available.
We run projects in cooperation with Chin and Rohingya refugees in New Delhi, India. (Education, health, income generation, women).
Where needed, we are happy to help Burmese refugees, asylum seekers and immigrants in Austria and other EU countries.

Margot Pires is the founder and president of the Austrian Burma Center.

On request we can offer other net participants advice, give a presentation, and provide up-to-date information and contacts in the field of our work.
