Qui sommes-nous

Healing with Horses was created in 2010 as a non-profit organization from a dream by its Founder and Director, Veronika Danzer LaFortune. With one horse rescued from the rain forest and a heart filled with love and hope, Ms. Danzer-LaFortune and her husband Lennon LaFortune created a place for children aged 6-12 from different backgrounds, with varying physical abilities and of different nationalities to come together to learn Lifeskills, to receive therapy and creative play.

Mission:
Creating an integrated, inspiring, and safe space in which specially-abled children, adults and animals are empowered to realize their full potential through therapeutic interactions with Nature.

What we do
• We offer our services to individual persons, various schools and organisations to attend free of charge. Our weekly sessions include therapeutic play in our Magical Playground, music, drumming, nature walks, gardening, arts and crafts and the exceptional experience of Being with Horses.to help develop their Superpowers.
• We have a healthy herd of 11 horses and one pony (most rescued or donated) which gives the children a way to experience a strong sense of bonding and affection, along with the physical benefits of strengthening and improved balance from horseback riding. Each child is offered the opportunity to groom, feed and commune with these gentle animals.

Initiatives:
• Different Play Sessions: Equine Nature Therapy Sessions
• Community Development: Healing With Horses Magical Playground - Made with cut bamboo and covered with soft river sand and cedar sawdust, the horses and children can ride in safety. The various areas of play have been constructed with recycled materials including different sized tires to swing and spin for one or with friends. The Creative Gardening area teaches the children to grow organic produce using recycled bottles and raised beds with our own compost. Wind chimes made from recycled metal pipe resonates softly near the Dream area to accompany those needing a moment alone in a quiet space.

For other net participants we can offer an expert guidance through trained staff, give an expert opinion, procure expert information and establish new contacts in the field of our work.
