Qui sommes-nous

The African Youth Initiative Network (AYINET), Uganda Chapter was founded in 2005 and is based in Lira, Uganda. AYINET is an independent national not-for-profit organization.AYINET is working countrywide from our head office in Lira Northern Uganda.
AYINET is committed to making peace and justice a reality for victims and survivors of war.

Our mission is to mobilize and empower the youth and communities in promoting healthy, peaceful and just society.

We focus our work in three critical areas:
• health and psychosocial rehabilitation for those who have suffered from grave injuries and crimes,
• engaging people and communities in the transitional justice process, and
• empowering and training youth in leadership skills.

With these areas in mind we create and implement programs that are victim-centered and designed to empower communities to promote a healthy, peaceful and just society.

Programs:
• Youth Leadership Development: AYINET´s aim is to promote responsible and effective youth leadership to build cultures of peace, tolerance and human rights in northern Uganda, and to contribute to lowering the number of youth involved in criminal activities. It´s designed with innovative and feasible actions for development, by and for the youth, tackling youth-related issues in a holistic approach.
• Surgery and Psychosocial Rehabilitation to War Victims: To provide these survivors with reconstructive or general surgery and psychosocial support.
• Sexual Reproductive Health (STIs, HIV, & AIDS and Fistula): AYINET aims to educate youth in order to prevent sexual and reproductive health problems. Peer education was tailored to youth, children, orphans, and young mothers in addition to children from child-headed families. AYINET knows educating children and youth is necessary for reducing their risk of contracting STIs. Additionally, AYINET increases their access to HIV/AIDS care and treatments for those who need it. Another area of concern is gender-based violence. Through holistic community dialogues, AYINET addresses the economic, health, cultural, security, and protection causes that bring about HIV/AIDS challenges.
• Sports, Arts, and Cultural Activities for Advocacy: Community redecoration and social mobilization

With support from our generous Partners and Donors below, AYINET has been able to provide:
• Medical rehabilitation of more than 3,000 war injured persons from Northern Uganda
• Intensive psychosocial rehabilitation to thousands of victims and survivors of war, with particular focus on women and children
• All interventions aimed at dealing with the legacies of violence and abuse, building the mutual trust between the state and the people in order to accelerate human development
