About us

Liberia Women and Children Aid Initiative (L-WOCAI) established 2021, is a women and children focused non-governmental and non for-profit organization, established on the principles of promoting and protecting the rights and welfare of women and children, as well as other marginalized groups, and creating lasting positive change in their lives both during emergency and development.

Our vision
We envision a peaceful Liberian society where all forms of violence, abuse and discrimination against women and children as well as other marginalized groups have ended and their rights fulfilled.

Our mission
L-WOCAI exists to foster lasting, positive chance in the lives of women, children and other marginalized groups in Liberia.

General objective
To promote and protect the welfare of women, children and other marginalized groups through impactful programs that focus on gender-based violence prevention and livelihood, women leadership development and political participation, child rights and education, sports and recreation, peace and civic engagement, and policy influencing that foster lasting, positive chance in the lives of women and children in Liberia.

Activities:
• Our Child Rights and Education Program is a well -designed educative program that educates both girls and boys about the importance of their rights and education, provide tuition aid to disadvantaged children.
• Our Peace and Recreation Programs have the unmatched and magnetic ability to reach and teach children. It fosters the healthy, physical, social, cognitive and emotional development of children. It is also an effective tool for teaching important values and life skills including self-confidence, teamwork, communication, respect for others, and fair play. Our games teach girls and boys the values of teamwork, self-reliance and resilience, promote effective leadership development; contribute to self-esteem, build social connections, and challenge harmful gender norms.
• L-WOCAI is currently implementing a self-funded project titled "Girls Power Project". The overall goal of the project is to promote Girls' Participation in Leadership and Mitigate School Related-violence against Girls in Schools. This is part of L-WOCAI initiatives to empower girls with special needs, to participate, have peer support, and take on positions of leadership in schools and their communities, to promote equity in participation
• Our staff and volunteers in Bong County are vigorously engaged in civic voters' education outreach activity, helping citizens to understand the importance of voting, how to mark the ballot paper, the date and time, the voting procedures, and to remain peaceful before, during and after elections.

Mulbah Howard is the Executive Director of Liberia Women and Children Aid Initiative (L-WOCAI).
