Qui sommes-nous

Architects of Music was created by musicians Victoria Romann and Regina Rothe from Dresden, Germany and performing arts artist Joseph Ocen from Kampala, Uganda in 2017. What connects us is the love of music, the joy of working with children and young people and the interest in intercultural exchange.
Architects of Music is an intercultural, social music outreach and education project for children and youngsters from Uganda with the motto:”Building bridges instead of drawing borders”
What we do:
• We accompany children and young people from the streets and villages of Uganda in the community of the group and the individual promotion of their artistic talents on the way to an independent existence
as "Performing Artists".
• The mix of traditional African dances and instruments with elements of classical European music is our unique selling proposition.
• We want to create spaces for beauty together and develop perspectives with young people to unfold, to discover their potential and finally to contribute to social changes in our society.
• We arrange scholarships to support young talents with accommodation, meals and school fees and thus enable them not to have to choose between school and artistic education.
• Learning from each other - we can and must do that. We organize concerts and workshops for school students in Saxony with the performing artists from Uganda. Meeting, getting to know each other and enjoying each other is the best way to get rid of resentments and reservations about confronting strangers.

Who we are:
• Joseph is in charge of the Homebase; the training ground in Kampala. He manages the daily training and is the on-site administrator of club affairs.
• Regina and Victoria manage the work of the association in Germany and organize fundraisers and benefit concerts, which are the means on which all our association work is based.
• The on-site coaching staff - Joseph, Afan and Kalanzi: Certified Trainers for African Dance and Drama; (Bakayimbira School of Performing Arts). They work daily with the children and young people on the
Home Base in Mpererwe, Kampala. They are not only in demand as instrumental and dance teachers: as youth advisors they are also important confidants for our young members

On request, we can provide advice for other network participants, give a presentation and provide specialist information and contacts in the field of our work.
