Our main focus
• Water: Sekirime Foundation is working towards the provision of hand dug wells with pumps, construction of rain water harvesting tanks at local schools, and hand washing stations.
• Sanitation: The foundation is constructing Ventilated Pit Latrines in the most vulnerable communities of the sub-county to improve community health and sanitation.
• Community Health: Water and sanitation initiatives are complemented by hygiene education activities to ensure that the health benefits for the community can be maximized.

Projects:
WASH: Sekirime Foundation‘s main work is provision of clean safe water, sanitation and hygiene education in Nakisunga Subcounty, Mukono district in Uganda. Access to clean safe water and sanitation facilities in Nakisunga subcounty is low, particularly in rural areas. Only 25 percent of the subcounty population has access to clean safe water. Access to sanitation can be as low as 20 percent in semi-urban areas and 11 percent rural areas. The projects also improve community sanitation through the construction of household latrines and institutional latrines for schools and clinics. Rainwater harvesting systems, most of them in kindergarten, primary and junior high schools, provided hundreds of thousands of liters of potable water and ensures young children have access to clean water for hand washing and hygiene. The projects’ major goal is to improve access to clean safe and adequate water supply and basic sanitation infrastructure for schools, clinics and households and promote complementary hygiene practices to maximize the health impact from this improved infrastructure.
