A child and youth focused organization working towards peace, unity, social and economic empowerment through advocacy, psychological support, sensitization, community outreaches, networking, educational support, environmental protection and conservation

Objectives:
• To create social stability and awareness on reproductive issues, HIV/AIDS and other related adolescence issues.

• To advocate for a society whereby children and youth with disabilities have equal rights and opportunities for growth and development.
• Improve access to education and psycho-social well-being of marginalized children and youth.
• Increase household income through self-help projects hence eradicating household poverty among the marginalized communities.
• To fight against drug abuse and launching programs aimed at rehabilitation of drug addicts.

Activities:
• Community mobilization: MUFT while implementing its programs/projects as a first step undertake community mobilization so that to raise awareness in community on health and hygiene, importance education in modern day affairs, gender related issues, socio-economic development and environmental protection. For this purpose, MUFT management holds meetings with the community members, conducts training/capacity building sessions and also launched campaigns.
• Psychosocial support: Multiplier TOT module, development and implementation of community action plans on psychosocial support, follow up of formerly abducted children in the community, provision of counseling services, community-based reception and rehabilitation of formerly abducted children, referrals of severe cases to the specialized service providers.
• Child protection: Formation and training of child protection committees, community dialogue meeting, and support to community led initiatives on child protection, translation of key legal and policy documents into local languages, data collection on violation of children’s rights and supporting formal education for Orphans and Vulnerable Children in Tanzania.
• Livelihood Support: Provision of sustainable and profitable means of livelihoods, training of Income Generating Activities and financial management, support to Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVGs) to attain vocational skills and provision of basic start up tool kits to beneficiaries in the community.
• Peace building and Reconciliation: Training of Parents Support Group and Youth Support Groups on peace building and conflict resolution, ongoing tracing and re-union, facilitation of community reconciliation and peace meetings, community and religious dialogue and consensus building on traditional justice systems, interactive games and sports among children and youth, development and implementation of peace, action plans, and dissemination of information education and communication materials to provide acceptance and reintegration.
• HIV/AIDS is mainstreamed into all the core programs of MUFT
• Advocacy: Is a strategy through which MUFT addresses cross cutting issues that arise from the above core programs messages are generated through Parents Support Groups and Youth Support Groups meetings.
• Environmental protection and conservation: Training of Youth Support Groups, formation of Environmental Protection and conservation clubs in schools, established a tree nursery which acts as a demonstration site and supplies tree feedings to the community. MUFT will open a tree demonstration garden in 2022 which will be used as a learning centre for tree growers, students and environmentalists.
• Reproductive Health: This is done through: Behavioral Change Communication, awareness and sensitization, guidance and counseling, distribution of information education and communication materials, HIV/AIDS Counseling and Testing and community outreaches.
• Women Empowerment: Women Empowerment aims at promoting women to take lead role in democratic norms and culture in the operational area. Two types of activities are undertaken in this theme: one aims at building capacities of women and communities and their groups to engage effectively with government and other stakeholders for getting their constitutional and legal social, economic and political rights, the other aims at working directly with state institutions for creating an environment that can guarantee the rights of women citizens
• Education: This is a cross-cutting activity in all the programmes of MUFT. It is an integrated activity. MUFT is supporting 10 orphans and vulnerable children by provision of scholastic materials, school fees and basic materials. We are getting a very big challenge in terms of funding considering the level of poverty. There are many OVCs that need support but the financial capacity of MUFT cannot support beyond 10 beneficiaries.
