About us

The Wings of Hope (WHO) is an international children´s charity, working to "Empower through Education". The charity was founded in 2003 by Dr. R. Sriram and Mrs. Rajni Sriram and currently runs successful schools programmes in India, Malawi and the UK. In both India and Malawi, Wings of Hope supports poor and underprivileged children by providing them with a free education. In the UK, the charity runs a national schools competition, "The Wings of Hope Achievement Awards" (WOHAA). WOH is not affiliated with any political or religious associations.
Our fundraising awards programme (WOHAA) supports poor and underprivileged children in India and Malawi, whilst at the same time developing the skills and talents of secondary and Sixth Form students in the UK.

Our aims:
• The charity´s primary aim is to provide our UK students, in particular those at a socio-economic disadvantage, with the opportunity to learn key transferrable skills, to access relevant and impartial careers advice, and to grow and nurture their confidence, independence and sense of social responsibility.
• Our secondary aim is to open up opportunities for the poor and underprivileged children we support in both India and Malawi, by providing them with a free education.

Programme:
The Wings of Hope Achievement Award (WOHAA) is a social enterprise programme for students in years 9-13. Our nationally recognised competition sees students organise activities and projects whilst developing key transferable skills.
Students work in small groups of no more than 6, to fundraise in innovative and creative ways. We help students to develop the following skills, which they demonstrate in the fundraising events and projects that they carry out. Leadership, Project Management, Communication, Creativity, Social Responsibility, Self-Development. Alongside this, we help to develop their confidence and ability to work independently.

Dr. R. Sriram is the Founder of the Wings of Hope (WHO).

For other net participants we can offer an expert guidance through trained staff, give an expert opinion, procure expert information and establish new contacts in the field of our work.
