About us

The Sebei Safe Motherhood Research and Training Foundation (SESMART) is a Ugandan NGO, established in 2013, that works for pregnant women and their children, advocating for the reduction of morbidity and mortality of pregnant and breast feeding mothers through maternal audits, and research into peri-natal and child deaths. SESMART is currently involved in the collection and processing of data on the process indicators for monitoring progress towards maternal mortality reduction. The organisation also plans to train health workers to assist in its work.

Vision
To have women in Sebei sub region Kapchorwa, Kween, Bukwo and Nakapirpirit go through pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum period safely, and their babies are born a life and healthy.

Mission
To advocate for the reduction of morbidity and mortality of the most vulnerable pregnant and breast feeding mothers of the community through maternal audits, peri-natal and child deaths/Research plus application of the lessons learnt.

Objectives:
• To support and advocate for the increase, availability, accessibility, utilization and quality of skilled obstetric care during pregnancy, childbirth and puerperium at all levels of the health care delivery system.
• To strengthen the capacity of individuals, families, communities, civil society organizations´ and government to improve maternal and neonatal health.
• To serve and empower individuals, families and communities through promotion of innovative solutions in the areas of HIV and AIDS, reproductive and child health, human rights and institutional capacity strengthening.

Justus Kiseko Chelangat is the Director of the Sebei Safe Motherhood Research and Training Foundation (SESMART Foundation).

For other net participants we can offer an expert guidance through trained staff, give an expert opinion, procure expert information and establish new contacts in the field of our work.
