About us

CEPHAC, established in 1998, is the brainchild of Rodwel Foundation, which was initially a women's cooperative formed in 1994 offering secretarial services, business consultancy, computer training and dress making courses to the community.

CEPHAC's mission is to uplift the living conditions of families, communities and society by providing psychological counselling, training in conflict transformation, crisis prevention as well as source material support for people in need. Target groups of the organization are people living with HIV/AIDS, women and youth.

CEPHAC offers the following:

- HIV/AIDS counselling,
- training on home based care,
- facilitating the formation of support groups in Kwekwe and Gokwe North through training workshop.

Through its counselling services it has noted, that a number of misunderstandings have arisen in families where spouses are not confident enough to disclose their HIV status fearing of being promiscuous. Different types of conflict arise during illness. Of all the people who have been counselled eighty percent (80%) of them have mentioned cases of conflict, of which most of them are women.

After the death of a spouse, about fifty percent of them complained of conflict situations within the family and relative. After disclosing status in most cases women are blamed for bringing HIV into the home. In situations of conflict between relatives no women were involved in the process of resolving conflict. From these problems it has found the need for it, to embark on a program, which helps it to bring about peace starting from the home up to community level involving women, since most of these cases are often handled and solved within the family set up according to local customs and culture.

Gladys Mabaso is the Chairperson of the organization.
