Qui sommes-nous

Amigos is the only non-profit Spanish language school based in Cusco, Peru, South America. The profits of the Spanish lessons to foreigners are used to support Nuevo dia Del Cusco-Peru, a foundation, established in 2000, that provides education, food and emotional support for underprivileged children in the Cusco area.

The school offers private one-on-one lessons, as well as group classes, with a maximum of four students. It provides free "extracurricular" activities in the school in addition to your Spanish lessons, including salsa classes, Peruvian cooking lessons, and city tours with their children once every month when there are at least 13 foreign students.

For a more intensive cultural experience, the school also offers a home-stay program, rather than staying in a hostel. This means living with a middle-class family that they have selected very carefully to give the best Cusqueño experience. The families are very kind and helpful, and provide breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Their students also have a private room, and in many cases a private bathroom. On the weekends their families usually invite their students to visit their relatives, to picnic, or to play sports. Whether students arrive in Cusco by bus, train, or airplane, the family will pick them up.

The Nuevo Dia del Cusco Youth Program consists of classes and workshops for a group of Peruvian youth who come from backgrounds of extreme poverty. Very commonly and quite unfortunately, this also means a background of alcoholism and violence.

Nuevo Dia del Cusco provides their group of youth with daily English classes and weekly workshops to develop self-confidence, self-esteem, and general interpersonal skills. It also provides a safe space for the youth to connect, be supported and have a healthy meal

Jesús Napancca has been the director of Amigos Spanish School since 2001 and has been successfully teaching Spanish in Cusco and in Europe for more than seven years. He knows the world of poverty from his own experience, and fully appreciate the value of good education for children. This school is his dream and he is thrilled that they are able to give a hand to some less privileged youth here in Cusco.

For other net participants we can offer overnight facilities.
