Ecologist's Movement of Macedonia-DEM

Qui sommes-nous

The Ecologist's Movement of Macedonia-DEM is a non-governmental, non-profitable and apolitical association. It is a national association that includes 23 local environmental NGOs as full-members. It was established in 1990 as a necessity to coordinate the work of the existing local groups. We are members of the Friends of the Earth - International (FoEI), CEEWEB, YEE, CPM.

Main goals
DEM's objective is to raise public awareness concerning environmental protection, sustainable development, and preservation of nature at the lowest level of destruction.

Activities:
• DEM's activists organize lots of different kinds of actions such as: lobbying, organizing public campaigns, round tables on concrete themes concerning environment, talks with experts in such field and symposiums, public meetings for a local problems, direct actions, protests, publishing leaflets, brochures, posters, bulletins, training, workshops, lectures in primary and secondary schools etc.
• Once a year we give to persons, organizations and public institutions public awards (Green apple) and critics (Rotten apple) to one whom deserve them.

Projects:
• Promoting the Concept of "High nature value" (HNV) Farming through Civil Society Organisations in Macedonia
• EU Environmental Policies and Strategies in South Eastern Europe: Capacity Building for the Implementation of EU Environmental Policies and Strategies in R. Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia
• Public Campaign "Green and Clean Macedonia" (fin. UNDP): Program for support on environmental NGO in Macedonia: Local initiatives for organic agriculture; Conservation on the Pelister mounting; Mobilizing dialogue - Ecological education in action; Strengthening the capacities of The Ecologists' Movement of Macedonia
• Capacity building in the field of nature conservation and environmental protection for - Macedonian NGOs
• Promotion of the volunteerisms
• Don't be a fossil, use Sun as energy - Campaign

Saska Kocevska is the President of the Ecologist's Movement of Macedonia-DEM.

For other net participants we can offer an expert guidance through trained staff, give an expert opinion, procure expert information and establish new contacts in the field of our work.
