About us

ASSAFE was founded in 1993 by enthusiastic young Malinese people. It is a national non-state organisation caring for women and children in Mali (West Africa). Since its foundation it has fought for basic rights such as the right to have education, nutrition, drinking water and basic health care. At the same time, the organisation is trying to increase equal rights. Equal opportunity, which is an important citizens' right, is the essential part of our mission. Below are the fundamentals:

- the development of cognitive and analytical skills within the target group
- the strengthening of the capacity to act
- the ability to find alternative solutions

In this process, ASSAFE plays the role of catalyst, companion and intermediary. In accordance with its philosophy of reinforcing local initiatives, our organisation advises, encourages and engenders momentum for primary innovations.

M. Sékou Traore is the President of ASSAFE.
