SILOE

Sobre nosotros

The non-government organisation SILOE is a Christian humanitarian organisation. It was founded on 23 May 2003 to combat the aftermath of the war which has plunged the Ivory Coast into mourning since September 2002. It has the following aims:

- the humanitarian support of refugees and the victims of natural disasters
- the education and protection of women and children
- health education
- alphabetisation

The activities of the SILOE Organisation:

- The protection of women and children.

The following activities have been implemented: informal education, "Cross Border Monitoring" (surveillance of children migrating across borders) assimilation of children born during the crisis, search for and mediation with families, sensibilisation concerning children's rights, the struggle against female circumcision, the struggle against abuse and exploitation of girls.

- Peace education
- Health education in the community
- Agricultural development.

On request from other net participants we can furnish a request, compile a report, and offer expert information and contacts in the following areas: children's rights, protection for vulnerable people, the struggle against violence towards women and children, the struggle against child labour and child trafficking.
