Über uns
Kijani - Forests For Change is registered in Kenya under the NGO act in 2013 and Kijani Deutschland e.V. is registered in Germany as a tax deductible non-profit.
We are young people from Kenya, Germany, and the USA who envision a just and sustainable world and believe that together we can take steps to realize this vision.
Our work:
• We aim to find positive synergies between communities and forest ecosystems in the Kenyan highlands.
• Kijani rehabilitates indigenous forests by empowering young Kenyans through training in agroforestry and cultivation of non-timber forest products.
• Kijani provides training in conservation agroforestry and alternative household energy, and non-timber forest product utilization to enable stakeholders in Kenya to improve their livelihoods, health, and environment.
Kijani is also focusing its efforts to provide training on the promotion of Urban Forestry in combating climate change
Activities:
• Plant: We research and test linkages between indigenous trees, agriculture, pastoralism, and soil health and provide trainees with access to tree seedlings for livelihood improvement. We are also running pioneering trials to drive down the cost of tree establishment in Kenya.
• Empower: Tree planting and livelihood establishment must coexist for sustainable landscape restoration to occur.
• Partner: We work with organizations that share our vision for landscape restoration in Kenya through tree establishment and can help us to reach more farmers. These include tree-planting networks, the scientific community, and community-based organizations.
Projects:
• Got Osimbo Project
• Marmanet Community Workshops
• Garissa Fruit Plantation
