Über uns
MIBOSCO - Misson For Improvement and Boosting Services to the Community is a community based organization working with refugees and locals in Githurai area / Nairobi, Kenya. It has been in operation since 2010 and registered since 2011 as a CBO.
Our purpose is to empower and educate vulnerable individuals, especially women, children, and most of them are refugees and asylum seekers. The organization provides the services to the community through the help and assistance from our volunteers from around the world and survives only through the support of both generous local and foreign individuals and organizations.
Vision
• To promote freedom and social responsibilities for individuals and communities.
• To seek a world of love, respect, tolerance and social justice, where hope overcomes poverty and people live in dignity and prosperity.
Our mission is to reduce poverty, marginalization, social and psychological constrictions in which vulnerable individuals, especially women, children, and people with refugees background or status, are forced to live with. To overcome these significant conditions MIBOSCO advocates education, counseling and other activities and actions to empower and educate people in urban slum areas about their rights.
To achieve these goals our strategies are the following:
• Collaborate with schools in our community and around the world, to increase children and youth awareness about their rights, health education, HIV/ AIDS prevention, social topics;
• Provide support group and individual counseling at schools;
• Conduct home visit
• Conduct social and need assessment for us to know the criterial of the clients
• Provide English classes and didactic support to schools and individuals;
• Empower and encourage women through technical classes and business idea in order to make them more independent and aware about their rights;
• Form partnerships with local and international organization to share expertise and ideas in order to improve our services in the community;
• Conduct Fundraising activities to support our projects
Programs:
• NHCC (New Hope and Charity for Children): This program deals with orphans and children from poor families and currently we have 24 active children. In this program, children get access to education, connect with other children in the world through pen palling and they do learn many things from different experienced staff and interns; these include games, poem, dancing, agriculture etc.. We facilitate the learning material to children, feeding program, clothing and some other basic need to them.
• Youth: This program involves the youths and we focus in facilitating drama, dance and bead art. Youths are educated and informed about drug abuse, HIV/AIDS, family planning, peace and reconciliation as well as entrepreneurship and adult education.
• WUD (Women United for Development): The program is all about women empowerment. They are trained on business, enterprenuership, microfinance, community health (family planning, nutrition, HIV/AIDS)) counselling, and adult education
