Über uns

Jambo Volunteers began its work in early 2009. Jambo Volunteers is a Community Based Volunteer Organization working at the grassroots level on education and community development interventions, particularly in the communities of Maasailand.

Our motto is “sharing knowledge”- contributing towards the goal of global education with an emphasis on promoting the understanding of the relationship between humanity and the natural world- our impact on the environment.

Vision
Sustained Education and Nutritional Health for a just and equal society free from discrimination.

Mission
Undertaking programs meant to assist and empower the underprivileged, socially and economically disadvantaged structures (children and women).

We work to improve the lives of the people in these communities through education and food programs, providing medical care and medicines, and fair trade pay for beautiful, handmade works of Massai art and jewelry.

Led by our vision of reaching a destiny where sustained education, good nutrition, justice and equity prevail, we piloted two main programs at the inception of the organization in the year 2009.
• First, we sponsored football (soccer) games were used to create awareness on nutrition and health to sensitize the youth against HIV and AIDS. In Kenya, the HIV rate continues to be above 5% of the total population.
• Secondly, our education program worked to build a primary pre-school where students ages 3-5 would be provided two meals per day, learn English, hygiene and about the environment.

Projects:
• Education program: Jambo endeavors in establishing pre–schools and primary schools for young orphans and vulnerable children so as to enhance their educational foundation just like that of the other children under parental care. The schools are equipped with modern learning facilities and updated syllabus to enhance proper learning. We anticipate that at least 50 boys and girls from Kimuka, Olosho- Oibor, Saikeri and Ewuaso are assisted and will receive proper education and health care. Our Kimuka and Iyarat pre–schools though, are still growing at their initial stages and are our benchmark proving the viability of the educational program.
• Orphanage: We aim to work towards solving this problem of Orphans and Vulnerable Children through our construction of a home for orphans so that their nutritional health, educational and all manner of upkeep are provided to them. This project, our “Samuria Initiative”, in Kimuka, Maasailand, is on-going.
