Community Health, Empowerment, Development and Relief Agency (CHEDRA), founded in 2005, is a non-profit and volunteer organization helping all needy people in Masaka, Uganda

Mission
To improve on the quality of life of people infected and or affected by HIV and AIDS, Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC), and People with Disabilities (PWD) through working with the local and international community focusing on Health, Empowerment, Development and Relief.


We are a team of 8, working full time in the Masaka district with vulnerable people from across all communities.
We work with volunteers from all over the globe on a structured programme that allows people to help communities in need, directly, without expensive volunteer agencies or middlemen.

Our programs:
• HIV/AIDS prevention, care and treatment
• Sustainable Development Projects
• Water, Sanitation and Hygiene
• Internship opportunities
• Undertaking research, monitoring and evaluation
• Supporting orphans and vulnerable children in school
• Human rights promotion
• Sexual reproductive health
• Supporting community agriculture, elderly, entrepreneurial and youth groups in all their endeavours to improve quality of life.

What we do
• CHEDRA runs education campaigns about HIV prevention, care and treatment, whilst also addressing the medical and psychological needs of people living with the virus.
• CHEDRA also works to improve the living conditions of poor communities by constructing village infrastructure, including; sanitation facilities, rainwater tanks, clean cooking stoves and kitchen gardens.
• Finally, CHEDRA aims to promote the capacity of communities to effectively manage their own well-being. This includes designing income-generation projects for vulnerable groups and facilitating access to quality education for disadvantaged children.
• Most recently, CHEDRA opened its first primary school, Bugabira Community School, on February 6th 2012.


Moses Kigozi is the Director of Community Health, Empowerment, Development and Relief Agency (CHEDRA).

For other net participants we can offer an expert guidance through trained staff, give an expert opinion, procure expert information and establish new contacts in the field of our work.
