Karunya Trust is a multi-religious non governmental organisation, formed in May 1998, registered under Bombay Public Trust Act 1950.

To restore the dignity and potential of marginalized individuals and communities by facilitating access to holistic education, health, livelihood, and stable shelter.
Our work
• Karunya Trust partners for the development of the society with children at its core. It aims at providing a safety net to thousands of vulnerable children deprived of basic necessities and developmental opportunities.
• Karunya Trust caters to needy children irrespective of caste, creed and religion. A major thrust is to develop new programmes for overall development of the children through educational, vocational and health facilities.
• Karunya Trust devotes its efforts to the financial development of the family through vocational and income generation programmes.
• All activities of the Trust are patterned on the model evolved by Mother Teresa and are dedicated to her memory. Karunya Trust was in fact established in the year she died and its activities are being reinforced on the eve of her beatification.
Programs:
• Agricultural and Environmental Programs: To promote sustainable, livelihood interventions depending on people's needs and capacities.
• Education and Child Rights Programs: We work to promote ‘child focused community development' and facilitate integrated and sustainable education among child rag pickers, tribal children, and HIV / AIDS infected and affected children. Monitoring and strengthening formal education, non-formal bridge course centers for children from the slums of Asia‘s largest dumping ground- Govandi, advocacy for Child Rights especially rights to development and participation through Child Parliaments are integral part of our programs.
• Health Programs: HIV/AIDS Awareness, health check ups for tribal and slum communities.
• Livelihood Programs: Over 90 Self Help Groups have initiated various income generation programs in Tribal hamlets of Maharashtara.
• Women Empowerment Programs: We work to enhance the physical, financial and social well being of the community by promoting agricultural and non agricultural opportunities through Self Help Groups, Farmers clubs and Water shed programs in 32 villages of Ambernath & Kalyan Talukas.
• Shelter Programs: Karunya Trust implements shelter and community development interventions for tribal communities of Thane district since 2008 to address their shelter and community development needs. The trust single mindedly works to eradicate extreme poverty and hunger and bring social security to the marginalized and less privileged through shelter program.
• SWACH: Sanitation Programs: Karunya Trust implements sanitation and community development interventions for tribal communities of Thane district since 2010 to address their sanitation and community development needs. The intervention also facilitated change in knowledge, attitude and practices of target community towards health, hygiene to curtail the practice of open defecation in the target communities.
• Relief and Rehabilitation Program (Mumbai Floods-2005, Kerala Floods-2018, Covid Relief Mission in Maharashtra 2020)
• Jubilee Action Network: It is a Volunteer Movement initiated by Karunya Trust in memory of the Jubilee Year of the Diocese of Kalyan in 2012.
• Self Help Approach Programs: To empower women economically and socially through the formation of SHGs and to capacitate them to address their issues concerning them and the issues of the community
• Child focused Community Development Programs
