Über uns
The Rural Education Support and Rehabilitation Unit (RESARU) is an indigenous Non Governmental Organization registered in 1995 with the aim of improving the social economical life of young people especially rural by enhancing basic education facilities, the provision of skills, and the encouragement of activate popular participation at grass root level. RESARU operates in Blantyre and Karonga, Malawi.
Vision Statement
RESARU envisions a healthy and literate Malawi that has reduced HIV and AIDS prevalence and suffering, where the human rights are respected and the environment is used sustainably.
Mission Statement
RESARU seeks to enable Malawians to live a productive life by promoting sustainable livelihood programmes and strengthening their capacity to effectively participate in issues affecting their lives. In all its undertakings, RESARU is guided by professionalism in all its activities, love and respect for all people’s rights regardless of their status, and being transparent in all its functions.
Strategic Areas

• Improve and promote sustainable food security, water and sanitation hygiene and well cared for environment

What we do:
• Early Childhood Development(ECD): RESARU Organisation has 17 community based children caring centres within its jurisdiction of Traditional Authorities Chimaliro, Boyidi, Chidothe where we provide early childhood learning to vulnerable children and orphans from ages 0-5. These centres helps in providing cognitive development and holistic development for the children. Caregivers are providing support to these children since there is proliferation of HIV/AIDS guardians are failing to cope with the situation so these schools are very vital.
• Cooking Stoves-MBAULA: RESARU implements an environmental and health project which is also an income generating activities. Women in groups are producing chitetezo Mbaula which use little firewood .This project has helped conserving the environment .The groups were trained in group organisation business management including savings mobilisation.
• Afforestation Programs: RESARU has 400 woodlots .These nursery trees are being planted in 12 villages as part of afforestation projec t.Within the hills of Mangazi and Goliati communities has destroyed lots of indigenous trees therefore Mapanga took an initiative of replanting trees. We also run tree planting trees within the rivers and have established community based natural resources. We have these committees in all villages under Traditional Authority Wasambo in Karonga.
• Agriculture: RESARU Organisation implement’s conservation agriculture including compost manure making where our extension workers train lead farmers who in turn train farmers within Traditional Authority Wasambo in Karonga on good agricultural practices such as manure making. The organisation is also making liquid fertilizer as part of its diversification policy.
• Beekeeping Project: RESARU Organisation is in honey production. Farmers have been organised into groups. Honey is being processed and sold to the communities
• HIV/AIDS: RESARU implement’s various HIV/AIDS related projects. RESARU has grassroots structures such as leaders of various HIV/AIDS Support Groups. These support groups including HIV /AIDS youth clubs disseminate messages on HIV prevention. We have 390 HIV/AIDS positive people taking ARVS and we support them with nutritious food for a positive living. We follow them up so that they adhere to ARV so that the viral rods should be suppressed.
• Orphan Care and Support: RESARU supports 50 Orphans by providing school fees through bursaries, provision menstrual pads, and any other education support. We offer vocational skills training in collaboration with technical colleges as part of empowering skills for self-reliant.
• Rural Education support and Rehabilitation (RESARU) implemented a 1 year project on combating property grabbing in the context of HIV/AIDS in Blantyre with funding from Amplify Change through Global Fund for Women. Objectives of the project: To reduce cases of property grabbing; To increase Sexual reproductive health services; To reduce cases of violence against women and girls; To reduce HIV infection and reduce HIV prevalence rate.
For other net participants we can offer an expert guidance through trained staff, give an expert opinion, procure expert information and establish new contacts in the field of our work.
