Über uns

Thubutu Africa Initiatives (TAI) is an officially registered local non-governmental organization and is currently primarily active in the remote rural areas of the Shinyanga Rural (Shinyanga DC) and Kishapu district, as well as Shinyanga Municipal, all located in the Shinyanga Region.
TAI wants to see local communities flourish, daring to take measure into their own hands. Children are at the base of this; they are our future. Children deserve to grow up in a safe and healthy environment; an environment that enables them to reach their full potential. Unfortunately this is often not the case. One of the major problems? The lack of education; education in the broadest sense and as an information provision tool. Education and information result in knowledge and knowledge drives change. At TAI we seek to appreciate and develop what Tanzania can do for the development of her own communities and Africa as a whole.

Our mission is to enable children to reach their full potential. To do so we need to reach further than the children alone; they are a part of a family, of a community. We thus ‘educate’ children, their parents (men and women), caregivers, teachers and other key influential people in their communities to improve the well-being of children, with a special focus on girls and young women.

Projects:
• ACHA NISEME - Let me speak!: The ACHA NISEME project focuses on community-led monitoring (CLM) activities. CLM is a process initiated and implemented by local community-based organizations and other civil society groups that gathers quantitative and/or qualitative data about HIV services. CLM puts the needs and voices of communities at the center of the HIV response in Tanzania and ensures that patient feedback is incorporated into quality improvement activities.
• SHULE SALAMA KWA WOTE - A safe school for everyone
• UTU WA MSICHANA (II) - A girls dignity: Via this project TAI will construct a disability-friendly girls latrine block, housing 8 latrines of which 1 is disability friendly; and a hand washing facility, located between the girls and boys toilet-block, facilitating hand-washing for both girls and boys and we will raise awareness on student WASH behavior and we will eevive the school hygiene club which will serve as a catalyzer amongst the students in the promotion of proper WASH behavior.
• MTOTO MWEREVU (PHASE II) - Bright Child: TAI focusses on community-based behaviour change interventions on nutrition topics for families with children under 5 years of age.
• USAID TULONGE AFYA - Let’s talk about health: This project promotes positive health practices in households and communities in Tanzania and targets women and youth (ages 15 to 24).
• TUWALINDE - Let’s protect them!: TAI aims implement legal service provision to children suffering from maltreatment.
